We are absolutely THRILLED and HONORED to have been selected as a recipient of the Women for Tri triathlon club grant for the 4th time! We are looking forward to continue growing the female population in the sport we love.
The program seeks to identify and diminish primary barriers to entry and mobilize triathlon advocates. The overall mission is to encourage and engage female athletes across all race distances and all athletic abilities.
Women for Tri embodies the heart and soul of what makes the sport so rewarding.
These three things are measured in the most widely recognized test of endurance – triathlon.
Proportionally speaking, the number of women in triathlon is low. This is disappointing, because given the right tools, women regularly excel in the sport. With a little inspiration, a good dose of determination and proper guidance, anything is possible.
The journey of 3 women who decided to give
triathlon a tri and prepare for a Half IRONMAN
Over the last couple of years, RTA Triathlon has been able to dramatically increase the number of women in triathlon. Female participation in our triathlon club and throughout the greater community has all gone up. The Women for Tri grants have helped significantly.
We have offered women specific events including clinics (open water swim, transition, bike skills, ect), educational events/lectures, social events and other opportunities.
Combined, our efforts have helped to build friendships, create camaraderie and erase the intimidation factor. Encouraging and empowering the women in our community to “DREAM BIG” has helped allow these “bad ass” women to reach for the sky.
Have you thought about giving triathlon a tri?
Or, are you already a triathlete and want to meet other women in the sport?
Either way, we would love to have you join us. We are always looking for more bad ass women. And if you’re super ambitious, we can always use more help organizing events.
