You may have swam in the lake, cycled on the roads, and run all over the town….but have you been to Lake Placid in the WINTER??? Lake Placid is the mecca of winter activities and it’s the perfect place for cross training winter fun. It is one of the few places on the GLOBE to have hosted not one but TWO winter Olympics. While it is no doubt beautiful in the summer, the winter is prime time. We want to bring that excitement to you!
This experience is NOT only for triathletes. It is for ANYONE who loves a good adventure and wants to be a part of an unforgettable experience. Spouses, significant others and friends are WELCOME. :)
-3pm Check in
-4pm Snowshoe hike in Henry’s Woods.
Strap on your snowshoes and headlamp and take a relaxing hike through this winter wonderland. Think tall pines covered in snow weeping overhead creating a canopy of glistening beauty. Gentle snow falling and illuminated by the light of your head lamp. It’s simply stunning.
The trail is moderate, the pace is slow. Distance is around 2.5miles.
-7pm World Famous Lake Placid Pub Brewery Tour and Beer Tasting.
Learn the art of brewing beer and see how they do it up close and personal. Enjoy a flight of their seasonal draught beers before enjoying an awesome dinner in the pub.
-8AM Whiteface Mountain for a full day of Skiing or Snowboarding.
Head up the gondola for those with experience or stay on the beginner mountain and take a lesson if you’re new! There’s terrain for everyone.
-Apres in the Lodge. Live music and drinks after a refreshing day on the mountain!
-6PM—-Walking on Water! Walk where you swim!
Hike out on Mirror Lake and view the village from the water. We will cross the lake and end at The Cottage for dinner and drinks
-10am Cross Country Skiing @ Mt Van Hoevenberg, home of the Olympic nordic trails.
After a group lesson we will ski out to “Josie’s cabin”—a small cabin in the middle of the woods where we will warm up by the fire and enjoy fresh hot homemade waffles and cocoa!!!
-Apres in the lodge following a full afternoon of skiing on the most beautiful groomed trails.
-6pm Pregame at The Lakehouse…Lakefront bar, fireplace, board games!
-7pm Dinner at the one and only SMOKE SIGNALS for THE BEST BBQ and Bourbon!!!
-10am Relaxing morning skate on the Olympic oval!
Ice skate where history was made! The speed skating oval was home to several of our gold medals…..and several of our Ironman finishes!
-Following our skate we will head to The Breakfast Club for some of the BEST in lakefront brunching!
